A few days ago we were thinning and pruning young trees in a neighbor’s forest, today we have to collect all those trunks. In a few days we will introduce the “mycelium” of the shiitake mushroom into them.
forest work

Good morning! Who’s there?
Only the birds answer, I, I…
How nice to feel the cold mountain wind, the fresh air enters the lungs, a pleasure.
How beautiful, the silhouettes of the oak trees in the mist, in the background you can see a green valley, behind the mountains… We walk on a blanket of leaves.
It’s time to activate, the task is simple…
We begin to collect the trunks scattered throughout the forest. “Ale hop”, we carry them on our shoulders and take them to a nearby path. Over and over again, ride goes, ride comes…
We work in silence, each one on their own, there is no rush…
Immediately, a feeling of well-being, of harmony…
The body is warming up, it is happy, wide awake and receptive… to the air, to the ray of sun, to what it sees… as if it were floating, light.
It is lucky to work in the middle of nature, the forest stimulates all the senses, full of smells, sounds, tactile experiences…
We could say that you feel a kind of intimate connection with the environment, enjoying the moment and the place. I never would have imagined that a physical job could be so pleasant.
And it comforts to think that it is something everyday and simple, linked to basic needs, food, warmth, shelter…
That said, lucky.
