Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) is a fungus which, like shiitake, grows on the wood of various hardwood species. It is particularly revered in Asia, where it is attributed with numerous properties. It has been used as a medicine there for more than 2,000 years, and is one of the oldest known mushrooms for this purpose.
The benefits of this mushroom include immunotherapeutic and anti-tumour properties due to the presence of various bioactive principles (beta-glucans and terpenes).
At Fungi natur we grow it on oak and chestnut trunks, half-buried and covered with natural forest litter to preserve the extra moisture it needs.
